SEO Agency | Backlink Building Automation & AI Outreach System
For an international SEO agency, I engineered an n8n-powered AI Agent to automate backlink discovery, scoring, and outreach. The client’s challenge was replacing manual VA work with a scalable system that could handle end-to-end backlink acquisition. The solution included scraping opportunities from content marketplaces, filtering domains via Ahrefs Enterprise API, and automatically discovering contacts using Hunter.io. A centralized dashboard was built to manage all leads, enforce suppression lists, and streamline outreach. Personalized outreach messages were drafted using OpenAI’s API.

Project Overview
The AI-Driven SEO Automation System was developed for an international SEO agency aiming to scale backlink building, streamline prospecting, and replace manual VA tasks with automation.
Traditional backlink acquisition required hours of manual work, scraping websites, verifying SEO metrics, finding contact details, and sending outreach emails.
This project delivered a fully automated backlink outreach platform designed to handle all those tasks seamlessly.
The goal was to build an all-in-one backlink outreach dashboard capable of:
- Discovering new backlink opportunities daily
- Filtering out low-quality or spammy sites using enterprise SEO metrics
- Automatically finding verified contact details for outreach
- Personalizing outreach emails using AI
- Running automated campaigns with built-in follow-ups
- Providing full transparency through a centralized dashboard
The result was a scalable automation platform that reduced manual workload by over 80%, improved lead quality, and accelerated international link-building campaigns.
System Capabilities
1. Automated Lead Discovery & Scraping
- Built scraping pipelines to collect backlink prospects from SEO marketplaces such as Adsy and Icopify, along with direct web scraping.
- Designed workflows to continuously pull potential backlink leads from multiple sources, ensuring a steady stream of new opportunities.
- This feature eliminated the need for manual browsing by virtual assistants.
2. Quality Filtering with Ahrefs Enterprise API
- Integrated the Ahrefs Enterprise API to analyze and score domains using metrics such as Domain Rating (DR), organic traffic, relevance, and spam indicators.
- Implemented a custom domain scoring system (1–10) to automatically rank backlink prospects.
- Only high-quality, niche-relevant domains were shortlisted, ensuring valuable backlinks and improved SEO results.
3. Centralized Outreach Dashboard & Suppression Lists
- Developed a unified dashboard for tracking all leads, domain metrics, pricing, and outreach statuses.
- Implemented suppression lists to automatically exclude spammy, duplicate, or irrelevant domains.
- Replaced multiple disconnected dashboards and spreadsheets with one transparent, centralized system for client review and management.
4. Contact Discovery with Hunter.io & Apollo
- Automated contact information retrieval using Hunter.io, Apollo, and custom scraping bots.
- Verified and validated all email addresses to ensure high deliverability.
- Completely eliminated the need for manual email collection from websites or LinkedIn.
5. AI-Powered Email Outreach & Personalization
- Integrated OpenAI GPT API to generate personalized email messages based on each site’s niche, tone, and content.
- Created human-like and contextually relevant emails, improving response and conversion rates compared to traditional templates.
6. Automated Email Sending & Follow-Up Sequences
- Used Gmail API and SMTP for direct email delivery through client accounts.
- Built automated follow-up sequences with up to three follow-ups per lead, stopping once a reply was received.
- Ensured consistent, timely, and scalable outreach without requiring human intervention.
7. Structured Database Management in Google Sheets / Airtable
- Managed all data, including leads, DR scores, outreach statuses, and pricing, within Google Sheets or Airtable.
- Enabled clients to review and approve leads before campaigns started.
- Ensured the system was transparent, auditable, and easy to monitor.
My Role: SEO Automation Engineer
As the lead engineer, I was responsible for designing and implementing the complete automation system.
